For us, it was the people behind the business. Their experience, the way they work with clients and the standards they bring to decisions, every day, all say more about GIS UK than a catalogue of capabilities ever could.
Of course, a financial-services website must explain what a firm does, how it is regulated and which markets it can access. Those things matter. But clients also want to know who they will be speaking to and who will take responsibility when assets are safeguarded, trades are executed, or an important financial decision requires careful attention.
The new website brings that side of GIS UK into view. It looks different, but the values behind the business are familiar.
The people behind the business
Technology, infrastructure and regulation are fundamental to financial services. Even so:
- Working relationships remain personal
- Instructions do not process themselves
- Difficult markets still call for judgement
- Good communication matters most when circumstances become less straightforward
Our people now feature much earlier on the website. Visitors can meet the leadership team, find the professionals responsible for individual areas of the business and read about the experience they bring to GIS UK.
We made that choice deliberately, because a service page can describe a capability, but it cannot show how somebody communicates, the judgement they have developed during their career or the responsibility they feel towards a client relationship. Giving the team greater prominence offers a better sense of the continuity and personal accountability behind the firm.
Finding the right part of GIS UK
GIS UK is the larger operating business within the wider GIS group, serving private, professional and institutional clients across an extensive range of financial services.
We have reorganised the website so that visitors can move more easily between those different areas. Clearing and custody sits alongside multi-asset trading and global trade execution, while dedicated sections explain our work across bonds, asset management, capital markets, investment banking, payments, European equities and cross-border trading.
That range is broad, but it is not a collection of unrelated activities. Clients arrive with different structures, objectives and requirements, and the work may involve several parts of the business. What connects them is a disciplined process, appropriate governance and an understanding of the regulatory responsibilities involved.
Practical information should not be difficult to locate either; onboarding, the Client Portal, regulatory material and contact details are now easier to find, whether somebody already works with us or is visiting GIS UK for the first time.
London, Hong Kong and the wider Group
Global Investment Strategy includes regulated businesses in London and Hong Kong. They are separate companies, operating within their own regulatory frameworks and providing services appropriate to their permissions and clients.
GIS UK is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and is a member of the London Stock Exchange. Global Investment Strategy Hong Kong Limited gives the group an SFC-regulated presence in one of Asia’s leading financial centres.
Their roles are complementary rather than interchangeable. The UK business provides the group’s broader operating platform and service range. Our colleagues in Hong Kong add regional presence, knowledge of APAC markets and support for activity spanning different markets and trading hours.
The relationship is now explained more directly on the UK website. Visitors can see the scale and breadth of GIS UK while also understanding where Hong Kong fits into the wider group.
How we approach News & Insights
News & Insights has also been given a more visible role. Financial markets produce more news and commentary than any investor could reasonably absorb, yet another summary of the day’s headlines rarely adds much.
Our aim is to use current events to examine the issues underneath them. That might mean exploring liquidity, governance, market structure, risk, capital allocation, or investor behaviour. The starting point may be a recent development, but the useful question is usually what it tells us about the way markets work.
We hope the section will grow into a library that clients, professional partners and other readers can return to long after the original headline has passed.
Summary
The website now presents GIS UK in a way that feels closer to the business we know: experienced people, a broad range of capabilities and an approach grounded in careful execution and straightforward communication.
Those qualities were not created by the redesign – the new site simply makes them easier to see. So, we invite clients, professional partners and those meeting Global Investment Strategy for the first time to explore the website, get to know our people and learn more about the way we work.
